There are three types of neurons
Sensory neurons- connected from sensory receptors to CNS, the brain and spinal cord  (INPUT)
Interneurons - localized within the brain and spinal cord 
Motor neurons - signals run from the CNS to the muscles and glands (OUTPUT)
